This is the official blog for Spectral Visions, a society and conference hosted by the University of Sunderland. This is where you can keep up-to-date with the announcements, as well as have access to the thoughts of students and lecturers alike.

On a dark and stormy night, as the thunder crashed and the winds howled, Spectral Visions came to life!… (Not really, but as we are an organisation concerned with all things Gothic, it’s a much better origins story.) Spectral Visions is a student-led organisation here at the University of Sunderland. We started as a group that planned our yearly Gothic conference, but over the last four years, have bloomed into a publishing outfit (Spectral Visions Press) and have developed a major online presence. The Visionaries are a community not just of university students, but a community of actors, writers, poets, photographers and filmmakers. These blogs are a testament to the hard work, creativity, and immense dedication of the Visionaries. Thanks for stopping by our spooky home!
